IPad Factory exploded Two Workers Dead
The accident occurred on a tablet computer assembly plant Apple iPad. Foxconn-owned factory located in China, it exploded and caused two workers were killed and 16 others injured.
The cause of the explosion was unknown and under investigation by the relevant authorities. Foxconn manufacturing facility that exploded in Hongguang Town, Pi County, Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
As reported by InformationWeek, Sunday (5/22/2011), the Foxconn has confirmed the explosion. They promised to take care of the injured worker and have contacted the families of each.
Explosion incidents worry about making supplies iPad 2 hiccup. There has been no confirmation from Foxconn and Apple about the anxiety it. Foxconn only delayed production temporary state to allow authorities to hold an investigation.
"Production was delayed until the investigation is completed. Safety of workers is the highest priority and we will do all that is needed to determine the cause of this tragic incident," spokesman Foxconn.
Foxconn, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry, Taiwan-based company, was contracted to assemble Apple iPad, the iPhone and iPod. They also get contracts from other technology companies such as Amazon, Acer, Asus, Intel, Sony, Hewlett Packard to Nokia.
Various controversies have plagued Foxconn, for example the case of employees who allegedly committed suicide due to poor working conditions and low salaries. Recently, Foxconn also raise employee salaries to prevent similar incidents happening again.
